FAQ

Our Community Testing Centres mainly aim at providing self-paid testing services to citizens (including specimen collection services using combined nasal and throat swabs and testing services for COVID-19) to serve general community or private purposes such as certification for travelling or work, excluding medical diagnosis and treatment.

If necessary, for example, in situations when there is a higher risk of community transmission, the Government will conduct testing for target groups, specified persons or other members of the public at the testing centres for public health reasons on a needs basis on a needs basis. Separate announcements will be made at that time.

Our Community Testing Centres aim to serve all asymptomatic individuals (excluding children under 3 years old and people not suitable for testing) holding valid Hong Kong identity cards, birth certificates or other valid identity documents (including Hong Kong residents and non-Hong Kong residents).

For children who are aged between 3 and 11 but do not have a birth certificate (e.g. they were born outside Hong Kong), they are still eligible for taking the test by on-site registration so long as they hold other valid identity document (e.g. HKSAR Document of Identity for Visa Purposes or HKSAR Re-entry Permit).

Children aged below 3 years old and people who have undergone throat or nasal operations are not suitable for the combined nasal and throat swabs test.

For the early resumption of cross-boundary people flow between Guangdong and Hong Kong and between Hong Kong and Macao, the Hong Kong SAR Government has been liaising closely with the Guangdong Provincial and Macao SAR Governments to discuss the implementation proposal. The current thinking seeks to allow mutual exemption of compulsory quarantine requirement upon entry to the other side on the basis of the mutual conversion of health codes and mutual recognition of nucleic acid test results. Details of the specific arrangements and implementation timeline will be subject to the development of the epidemic and further deliberations among the three places.
The test results of Community Testing Centres fulfil the relevant requirement for mutual recognition of nucleic acid test results.
